A letter to every player who attended trials is what we will strive for in 2024 once we have a full-time Community TD and Part-time Administrative Assistant to join our current TD, we apologise this is not possible in 2023. We are working on a training and grading schedule for 2024 and will post soon. Please read the below if you are wanting more information about trials. From our Technical Director Fernando Lambert To players & parents, thank you for trialling for our 2024 Robina City FC squads. We would like to congratulate you on being involved and for choosing Robina City FC as your preferred club. Our selection process for 2024 had multiple stages:1. Players were assessed during trials by a minimum 3 accredited coaches and the Technical Director 2. The Technical Director collected all information and placed the players into final score order.3. The previous year coaches provided squad report and players insight (depending on age group and coach availability).4. A selection meeting occurred with the Technical Director and Club Coaching Coordinator. 5. Invitations were sent out. What coaches looked for during trials: Basic Competencies (equally important): We assessed players and gave them a rating (A, B, C, D) on the Core Skills (Striking the Ball, Receiving the Ball, 1 v 1 attacking and Running with the Ball) and defending capability as well as these factors 1. Winner’s mentality2. Emotional stability3. Personality4. Explosiveness5. Insight in the game6. Ball and body control7. CoachabilityOur process tried to minimise error and provide equal opportunity for all players. We understand that is almost impossible not to make mistakes and we looking forward to further developing our selection process. Next year we will have a full-time Community TD to oversee the process with me. How does my child keep developing?• Understanding why they play is important. • Finding a fun, enjoyable learning environment that suits their needs. • 2-3 football sessions of 60-90 minutes plus a game is a recommended weekly workload. Balance is better. • Keep applying yourself 100% to trainings and games• Are they being challenged (out of comfort zone) at training (purposeful)? • Are they playing at a challenging competition level? • The game is becoming quicker, with less time and space in which to operate. Players will have to act quicker to meet the demands of the game. Keep working on the key fundamentals of the game (striking the ball, receiving the ball, 1v1, dribbling, pressing, tackling, positioning off the ball and movement) during team training and other opportunities including Holiday Camps during the year, and Tournaments. In 2024 we will have more regular communication with your coach and the TD’s will have a greater presence around training/games during the season.*** If you were expecting an offer and have not received one please check the email address you listed when you registered to trial (this may be different to the email you used on play football) AND check your junk mail ... 😀 UNDER 6s and 7s only $395 for all training (over 40 sessions), 20+ games, and 2 jerseys ! ⚽️Under 6s and 7s ORIENTATION GUIDEWelcome to Robina City FC and club football, and we hope you develop a life-long love of the world game. Development of players as footballers and as people is our focus. We have compiled the below for you to warmly welcome you to our club and to answer frequently asked questions:1. The emphasis of our Under 6 and 7 program is on developing a love of the game whilst learning the four core skills of football: passing, first touch, running with the ball, and 1 v1. 2. Players turning age 5 or 6 in 2024 are Under 6s. Players turning age 7 in 2024 are Under 7s. 3. Players turning age 5 in 2024 can choose to do Tiny Tots if they prefer (starts 21 February, 10 week program, details will be posted in January). 4. Girls turning age 6 or 7 can play Under 7 Girls if they prefer (please select that option when registering). If FQ has an under 7s Girls competition we will enter a team and if they don’t we will either enter the team in Under 6s mixed or allocate the players to other Under 7s mixed teams. 5. Please register your child by 20 January to secure a place. You can register on-line from around 4 January (a guide will be posted) or at the club between 9 and 12 on 20 January if you need assistance. After that we will only accept new registrations if there is availability. 6. We have a come and try clinic on the 20th from 830-930, please arrive at least 10 minutes before to sign in. 7. We plan to have 6 to 8 teams per age group with 6 or 7 players (in recent years teams have asked for 7 but it can be capped at 6), with 4 playing on the field at any time during games.8. The registration fee for the season is $395 including 2 training sessions per week, Saturday games, and playing jersey and training jersey to keep. Club shorts and socks together are $35 and we will advise when they are available to purchase. Jerseys will be handed to Team Coaches to distribute after teams are formed. 9. The 2024 training times are as follows:· Under 6s train Mondays at 430. Community TD to lead the first 5 sessions.· Under 7s train Wednesday at 430. Community TD to lead the first 5 sessions.· Under 6s and 7s play Friday night Intra-club games at 5pm for 1 hour with a BBQ going. The benefits of the above include extra game time, it creates an atmosphere and community on Friday nights for parents to mingle, and makes the load for coaches a lot lighter.10. Games are Saturday mornings home and away against other clubs as per normal. Some cubs don’t offer this whereas we think this is a major part of children developing a love of the game early when they wear their club colours, and represent their club at home and at other clubs. Games are usually within a radius of 10 kms from our club. Players are requested to attend their game a minimum of 20 minutes before the start time to greet their coach and to warm-up. 11. Saturday mornings are a fantastic atmosphere at our club with over 20 games every Saturday morning. Hang around and enjoy the canteen and the camaraderie. 12. All players and parents are requested to attend a MUSTER on Saturday 10 February which is when teams will be formed. 815-9.30 for Under 6s. 930-10.45 for Under 7s. We will also be seeking a coach and manager for each team. The coach will observe the first 5 sessions delivered by the TD and then take the team on Saturdays. The role can be shared if need be. Our TD will provide all training sessions to be delivered across the season. 13. Coaching is a great opportunity to bond with your child and provide a great experience for other children. For many new coaches it becomes a passion and they go on to coach for years. Coaches are provided with all the training gear they need, and a coaching kit (including Nike polo, Nike jacket and club hat). We have a coaches Facebook page to learn from our TD and others. We are also hosting a Grassroots coaching course in late February conducted by Football Queensland. This is free of charge.14. Under 6s will commence training on 19 February, training Mondays 430-530. Under 7s will start training on 14 February training Wednesdays 430-530. 15. If you cannot attend a training session or game here and there that is fine. The emphasis is on fun and learning the game. The first game will be on Saturday 9 March. 16. When you purchase your Soccer Boots make sure you wear your soccer socks as they are thicker than normal socks. You will also need to purchase shin pads. 17. We are a community club and encourage all players and parents to be a part of their club and volunteer during the season. 18. Your Under 6/7 Coordinator Wendy Rushton is on Ph: 0411103518. If you are interested in coaching or managing or you have formed a team already please let her know before the Muster on 10 February. Thank you and welcome again 💙 ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less
