⚽️ Brisbane Womens Premier League training kicks off again on 26 November and then every Tuesday ! Watch this space for important player announcements over the coming weeks !

Welcome back Ian Shaw and Matt Glew to lead our teams ❤️💙

Ian Shaw has an extensive playing and coaching career. Ian played first grade for 26 years including playing representative football for the Gold Coast in 1983 and the ACT 1985-95, as well as the National Futsal League for 3 years.

Ian has transitioned to coaching seamlessly with success in development and competitive football. Ian was the first coach to win a boys U/15 FFA National title for the ACT and followed up with a second title at the National Secondary Schools.

“I’ve always felt I had something to offer football and coaching gives me the enjoyment of developing players and seeing them succeed “ Shaw has worked for FIFA in the Solomon Islands and Technical Director of Football for Capital Football in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), “touring with teams in Asia has expanded my knowledge and fostered an appreciation for development, I was fortunate to do my AFC C License and Golden Age licence at JFA HQ in Fukushima, watching and learning how the Japanese coach is insightful.”

“My role at Robina is to develop players for a higher level of football with GCU and W-League, Hayley Raso is a perfect example from Palm Beach Soccer Club to Canberra United to the National team”

After premierships with Palm Beach and Broadbeach the 2 time FGC Coach of the Year is looking to improve on the 7th place position Robina attained from their first year in the Brisbane women’s Premier League, “ We are a competitive squad and improved as the season developed, we provided first grade debuts for a number of players and they acquitted themselves admirably, I am looking forward to seeing those players develop and make an impact in the 2020 competition”

Shaw who has completed part A of his AFC A-License says “the decision Robina made to enter into the Mt Franklin BWPL will help develop players for a higher level of play and confirms the club’s commitment to improve the Women’s game on the Gold Coast, as well as offer a pathway for our 11 female teams”

Matt Glew will continue to Assist Ian and coach the Reserves team after nurturing a young group of players into their first year in the BPL. Matt has an exemplary record in youth development, coaching girls teams to multiple Premierships and Grand Final wins. He has also recently completed his C licence.

Joining our Premier League Womens coaching team is GK coach Jamie Irwin. Jamie is a former Queensland junior and senior goalkeeper. He brings lots of experience having played in the XXXX league (NPL equivalent) for Gold Coast City and Palm Beach as well as many years in the Gold Coast Premier League. Jamie also leads the ASPIRE Football program at Varsity College.
